Match Point
Chris, a former tennis pro, social-climbs into the world of the British upper
crust when he gets engaged to one of his wealthy tennis students. But Chris is
not the type to leave well enough alone, and he soon falls for Nola, a sexy
American actress who is dating his rival Tom, Chris' soon to be brother-in-law.
Match Point is not a film where you will find likable characters. Hardly anyone
in the film comes out clean on the other side. There is not one single aspect of
this film that makes it great, it's the combination of many things; the acting,
directing, editing, camera work, writing, and casting.

Hustle & Flow
DJay, a streetwise Memphis hustler tries to find a voice and realize his dreams.
A chance encounter with an old friend, Key, a sound engineer who has always
wanted to make it in the music business, spurs DJay, and if he's ever going to
make his mark, it has to happen now. He begins to write down his freestyle raps,
his flow, and the two team a church musician with a beat machine, to lay down
bass-thumping crunk tracks. DJay's metamorphosis affects his entire house, as
the women in his life find ways to contribute to the creative process. With the
impending visit to Memphis of hometown platinum-selling rapper Skinny Black,
DJay has to make one last hustle if he's ever going to flow.
The Buzz..
The
White Stripes have finally made it. Jack and Meg White will be
animated for an upcoming Simpsons episode. They're the latest rockers to
appear on the show. Previously, Springfield has been visited by the Red Hot
Chili Peppers, Aerosmith, The Ramones, The Who,
Smashing Pumpkins and Kid Rock. There's no word yet
on when the episode will air.
Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst is getting married
again, and his fiance couldn't be happier. Her father, on the other hand,
couldn't be angrier. Durst proposed to Leyla Bearman on December 30th with a
10-thousand-dollar ring. But a source close to the Bearman family says Leyla's
father suspects that Durst has cheated on his daughter, and he won't be
attending the wedding.
You already knew Black Eyed Peas mainman will.i.am was a triple
threat. He can rap, dance and produce. Now he's also a rising music executive.
His will.i.am music imprint on A&M/Interscope will release Macy
Gray's next record on the label, as well as the solo debut from Peas pal
Fergie.
Pamela Anderson, wrote a letter to the governor of Kentucky asking
him to remove a bust of KFC's Colonel Sanders from the state capitol. In
the letter, the noted PETA supporter called the bust "a monument to
cruelty." The governor's office ignored the request, calling the finger-lickin'
good Colonel "one of Kentucky's most distinguished citizens."
Forbes
recently released their annual list of wealthiest celebs and there's lots of
talent under 25 who are making millions. Mary Kate and Ashley led the
pack, raking in $21 million last year. Paris Hilton earned a
reported $6.5 million, while Lindsay Lohan took in $11 million in
'05. Ashlee Simpson managed to take in $5.3 million, while
18-year-old Hilary Duff made $15 million.
Kevin Smith has released the first Clerks 2 teaser trailer
online. Clerks 2 once again stars Jeff Anderson, Brian
O'Halloran, Jason Mewes, and Kevin Smith.
Rosario Dawson joins the cast, which takes the characters 10 years
into the future from the first movie. Also, from the looks of the teaser, we'll
see some View Askew characters pop up here and there, like Ben
Affleck and Jason Lee.
Keifer Sutherland revealed that the producers have started
thinking about doing feature films based on 24, which follows a real-time
format of each television episode taking place over a 24-period in one day.
Alicia Keys is pulling a Chris Rock. The singer has
signed up with television network UPN to produce a drama based on her
early life in New York City. The 24-year-old singer grew up in the gritty Hells
Kitchen neighbourhood in a single-parent home and was studying classical piano
at age six.
Giovanni Ribisi and Gary Dourdan are joining the
cast of the Perfect Stranger for Revolution Studios. Halle
Berry and Bruce Willis already have signed on to topline
the feature to be directed by James Foley (Confidence).
Smallville hottie Erica Durance, who plays Lois Lane in the WB
series, has joined The Butterfly Effect 2, in which she will
co-star with Eric Lively and Dustin Milligan. The movie will not be related to
the original film with Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart,
but follows a similar premise in which a character is able to travel back in
time in order to change the events in the present, but finds that every little
change can lead to drastic consequences.
Sony Screen Gems & Lionsgate have commissioned Eli Roth for
a Hostel sequel after the successful box office showing last weekend for
the first movie. The studios are hoping for a quick turnaround to release the
movie next year.

like Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie supposedly
to have turned Casino Royale down already. Daniel Craig
still continues to be the only cast member confirmed for the movie. Natasha
Henstridge and Australian actress Kimberly Davies are
reportedly two other actresses that could by vying for the role.
Susan Sarandon will star as an evil queen intent on destroying
true love in Walt Disney Pictures' Enchanted. Kevin Lima
will direct the fairy tale feature that will mix animation and live-action. |
