Alien: Romulus
While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe. Director Fede Alvarez sought out the special effects crew from Aliens (1986) to work on the creatures. Physical sets, practical creatures, and miniatures were used wherever possible to help ground later VFX work. Director Fede Alvarez explains the rule he set on Alien: Romulus that "if it can be practical, it will be practical," so that the cast were always acting opposite a physical representation of the alien.

To prepare for her role, Zendaya spent three months with pro tennis player turned coach, Brad Gilbert.

Former Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder has been cast in Season 2 of Hulu’s Vanderpump Villa alongside her former Sur boss, Lisa Vanderpump. In addition to joining the show’s cast, Schroeder has also signed a deal with the streamer, and her first project is developing a comedic half-hour docuseries called Stassi Says.

Joaquin Phoenix has dropped out of Todd Haynes’ untitled gay romance film, just five days before filming was set to begin in Mexico, Variety has confirmed. Phoenix had developed the screenplay for the detective love story with Haynes and Jon Raymond. A source close to the production tells Variety the actor got “cold feet.” Entire sets had been built in Guadalajara before Phoenix made the last-minute decision to exit the film.
