At The Movies
Sonic The Hedgehog 3
Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet. The film makers of the prior movies have mentioned playing both Sonic Adventure 2 and the Shadow the Hedgehog solo game for inspiration. The film is also inspired by narrative elements from the Saturday morning animated television series Sonic the Hedgehog

Carry-On (Netflix)
A mysterious traveler blackmails a young TSA agent into letting a dangerous package slip through security and onto a Christmas Day flight. This movie is a lot of fun thanks to good performances from Taron Edgerton and Jason Bateman, some moderate twists and enough wry humor to keep things from dragging too much in a slow second act. Overall an enjoyable albeit disposable adult Christmas popcorn movie.

Red One (Prime Video)
What would you get if you crossed The Santa Clause with Mission: Impossible? Well, you’d get Red One and you might wonder why you ever thought of this idea in the first place. Regardless, it’s the biggest budget Christmas movie of all time and is arriving on Prime Video less than a month after it’s theatrical release. So, buckle up and follow E.L.F. (Extremely Large and Formidable) operative Callum Drift (Dwayne Johnson) and the world’s greatest tracker, Jack O’Malley (Chris Evans), as they chase down a villain who has kidnapped Santa (J.K. Simmons) to try and stop Christmas.

The Buzz...

Sarah Michelle Gellar may have been opposed to a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot at one point, but she’s come around to the idea more recently. The actress, who’s currently starring in Dexter: Original Sin, stopped by The Drew Barrymore Show where the talk show host asked her if she had any thoughts on bringing her beloved series back in some capacity.

Adam Sandler was met with a roar of applause from the Saturday Night Live audience when he dropped into a bloody hospital sketch during the Dec. 14 episode.

Guy Pearce opened up about wanting to work with Christopher Nolan again after Memento but not being able to because a Warner Bros. executive didn’t like his acting.

Luke Wilson would reprise his Idiocracy role as Joe Bauers in a heartbeat. The actor, who starred alongside Dax Shepard, Maya Rudolph and Terry Crews in the original 2006 movie helmed by Mike Judge, recently told Business Insider that he’s “always pitching” sequel ideas to the filmmaker.

Christmas in the Spotlight premiered on November 23, 2024, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. This "Swelce" inspired movie, loosely based on the romance between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, follows the story of Bowyn (Jessica Lord), a blonde pop star, and Drew (Laith Wallschleger), a football player.

Sony’s first R-rated comic book movie Kraven the Hunter bombed in its domestic box office debut, hunting down only $11 million to come in third behind Thanksgiving blockbusters Moana 2 and Wicked.

Disney+ has ordered a short -run revival of Malcolm in the Middle with original stars Frankie Muniz, who played the title character, along with Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek. Series creator Linwood Boomer is also set to return as writer and executive producer of the four episode revival.

With the clock winding down to the final episode of Paramount Network’s Yellowstone, series star Kelly Reilly took to Instagram Sunday to confirm that the Dec. 15 episode is in fact the finale to the mainline series.

Glen Powell is one hot commodity. The 36 year old actor is attached to star and produce Homewreckers, an erotic thriller with a sci-fi twist, and several studios and companies are in a bidding war for the rights.

Jelly Roll is opening up about his weight loss journey. The 40 year old music star made an appearance on wife Bunnie Xo‘s podcast, out on Monday. During the appearance, he publicly announced a goal he’s set for himself amid his weight loss transformation.
