Deadpool & Wolverine
Six years after the events of Deadpool 2, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds)
lives a quiet life, having left his time as the mercenary Deadpool behind him,
until the Time Variance Authority, a bureaucratic organization that exists
outside of time and space and monitors the timeline, pulls him into a new
mission. With his home universe facing an existential threat, Wilson reluctantly
joins an even more reluctant Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) on a mission
that will change the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sunny (AppleTV+)
Follows Suzie (Rashida Jones), an American
woman living in Japan, and Sunny, a domestic robot made
by her husband's company, as they uncover the dark truth
of what really happened to Suzie's husband and son who
disappeared in a mysterious plane crash. Sunny is a
masterful blend of mystery, dark comedy, and heartfelt
drama. Rashida Jones delivers a standout performance as
Suzie, an American in Japan grappling with the
mysterious loss of her family and the unexpected
companionship of a domestic robot. The show's intricate
plot, set against the authentic backdrop of Kyoto, is
both gripping and emotionally resonant.

Spread (tubi)
In an all new movie for the FAST streaming app tubi,
Spread follows Ruby (Elizabeth Gillies),
an aspiring journalist and staunch feminist, who has big
dreams but has not done much to make them a reality.
Broke and desperate, Ruby is forced to swallow her pride
and take a temp job at SPREAD, an outdated adult
magazine. There she discovers that despite the industry,
this is just another office job with bad coffee, stale
pastries, and unhappy employees. Planning to escape as
soon as possible, Ruby somehow finds herself making a
good impression on her boss, Frank Ferretti (Harvey
Keitel), a former industry king who has been riding
on his glory days. Needing a fresh take, Ferretti puts
Ruby in charge of designing the company's new app. While
trying to hide her status working in the adult business,
Ruby steps into her own power and slowly changes her
tune on an industry that she might have a chance to
change for the better.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is moving forward with legally dropping Pitt
from her name. Almost two months after the daughter of Angelina Jolie
and Brad Pitt filed legal papers on her 18th birthday, May 27, to
drop her father’s surname, she has completed the next phase of the process;
publishing an announcement in a newspaper.
Kate Hudson said she and Matthew McConaughey are
both open to starring in a sequel to the 2003 rom-com How to Lose a Guy in
10 Days. During an appearance on Watch What Happens
Live, Hudson revealed that she and McConaughey have spoken about
returning to the love torn streets of Manhattan for an encore, saying, “I think
they [studios] are always thinking about that.”
The August theatrical release for the second chapter of Kevin Costner’s
ambitious Western epic Horizon: An American Saga has been canceled after
the first film fizzled in theatres. The studio had planned an unusually fast
back-to-back release for the two Horizon films. But after the first chapter
collected a modest $23 million in its first two weeks in theatres, the
distributor pivoted.
Vertical Horizon are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the
multi-Platinum Everything You Want album. To commemorate
the occasion, the band is hitting the road this summer for a handful of
headlining shows, as well as shows in support of Gin Blossoms and
Toad the Wet Sprocket’s co-headlining tour that
kicks off August 1 in Oshkosh, WI. Their trek lands in Mankato, MN on Saturday,
August 3 at the Vetter Stone Amphitheater for the iconic
Rib Fest celebration. Rib Fest also features Tom Kiefer
with L.A. Guns so plan a weekend and check out some tasty tunes and food!
Twisters is twirling, twirling, twirling toward one of the five biggest
domestic debuts of the year. The sequel whizzed past projections on opening day
with $32.2 million from 4,151 locations across Friday and preview screenings.
Paramount’s Republic Pictures has acquired global sales
rights to Tim Fehlbaum’s September 5, which stars
Peter Sarsgaard, John Magaro, Ben Chaplin
and Leonie Benesch, who broke out last year with the Oscar
nominated The Teachers' Lounge.
NBC has given a series order to Suits: LA, a spinoff of/companion
show to the former USA Network series turned streaming juggernaut.
The network has also picked up Grosse Pointe Garden
Society, a murder mystery from the team behind Good Girls.
The two most-watched streaming originals in the U.S. during the week of July
12-18 were Peacock’s Love Island USA Season 6 and
Disney+’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, topping Luminate’s TV
and film charts, respectively, with 1.1 billion minutes watched.
An independent film called The Long Game unseated
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F from its No. 1 slot on Netflix in the U.S.
The Long Game, a period feel good drama starring Jay Hernandez, Cheech
Marin and Dennis Quaid, has also grabbed attention by
ranking as Nextflix’s sixth most popular film on a global basis.
