The Watchers
A young artist (Dakota Fanning) gets stranded in an extensive,
immaculate forest in western Ireland, where, after finding shelter, she becomes
trapped alongside three strangers, stalked by mysterious creatures each night.
This forest isn't charted on any map. Every car breaks down at its treeline.
Mina's is no different. Left stranded, she is forced into the dark woodland only
to find a woman shouting, urging Mina to run to a concrete bunker. As the door
slams behind her, the building is besieged by screams. Mina finds herself in a
room with a wall of glass, and an electric light that activates at nightfall,
when the Watchers come above ground. These creatures emerge to observe their
captive humans and terrible things happen to anyone who doesn't reach the bunker
in time.

Atlas (Netflix)
In a bleak sounding future, an A.I. soldier has
determined that the only way to end war is to end
humanity. Atlas Shepherd (Jennifer Lopez),
a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep
distrust of artificial intelligence, joins a mission to
capture a renegade robot with whom she shares a
mysterious past. But when plans go awry, her only hope
of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it.

Tires (Netflix)
Will, an unqualified heir, attempts to turn his auto
repair business around while enduring torment from his
now employee cousin Shane. If you like Shane
Gillis, you'll absolutely love this show. I had full
and deep belly laughs every episode. The first couple
episodes feel like a sketch show more than anything but
once the story kicks in it really pulls some stuff
together. The cast of characters have great chemistry.
This is a show written by comedians for people who love
dumb, stupid, hilarious juvenile comedy.
The Buzz...
Rock legend Bryan Adams has fired back with an encore in his self
declared “fight” on behalf of Canadian artists with the Trudeau government over
“laughable” streaming laws which he believes discriminates against any of them
who want to work with international collaborators.
Pop superstar Jennifer Lopez had been due to commence her This
Is Me…Live tour in June and play a string of dates over the summer but she
has now expressed her “heartsick” at having to pull the plug on the whole thing
as she insisted that it was an “absolutely necessary” move. “I promise I will
make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much.
Until next time …”
The documentary, I’m Just Here for the Riot, was turned down by every
Canadian outlet they could think to pitch the story to, only to be snapped up by
ESPN’s esteemed sports documentary series 30 for 30. The directors
sifted through the enormous cache of documentation of the world’s first
smartphone riot, which at the time triggered the largest police investigation of
its kind, and the self righteous online shaming that followed.
Filmmakers and industry insiders were left scratching their heads after
Furiosa, a long-awaited prequel in writer director George Miller’s
ongoing Mad Max franchise, flopped at the box office last weekend.
It’s another bummer of a weekend at the summer of box office, where overall
domestic revenue looks to be down 69 percent from a year ago as Hollywood and
theater owners continue to grapple with a lack of big event pics. And year to
date revenue is now down 24 percent over last year.
3 Body Problem will end with its third season on Netflix. The sci-fi
adaptation, which launched its first season in March, is officially set to air
second and third installments before coming to a close, offering clarity to the
streamer’s previous statement that it would return “with all-new episodes to
take viewers through the full journey of this epic saga.”
Plans for a Gomorrah series prequel are moving forward, with shooting now
scheduled to start in winter 2025 on the hit crime drama’s previously announced
origin story.
Taylor Momsen’s latest performance with her rock band The
Pretty Reckless will definitely go down as a memorable show for
the singer. The Gossip Girl alum shared on Instagram Friday
that she was bitten by a bat while opening for AC/DC’s Power Up Tour in
Sevilla, Spain.
