At The Movies
Saturday Night
At 11:30pm on October 11, 1975, a ferocious troupe of young comedians and
writers changed television, and culture, forever. Saturday Night is based on the
true story of what happened behind the scenes in the 90 minutes leading up to
the first broadcast of Saturday Night Live. Full of humor, chaos, and the
magic of a revolution that almost wasn't, we count down the minutes in real time
until we hear those famous words. This movie is a chaotic roller coaster from
start to finish.

The
Menendez Brothers (Netflix)
Serving life in prison for murdering their parents,
Lyle and Erik Menendez speak out in
this documentary explaining the shocking crime and
ensuring trials. Supported by the testimonies of family
members and forensic criminal experts in the first
trial, it was established that both Lyle and Erik
endured years of grooming and violence (physical,
emotional and sexual) by their father, while the mother,
herself lacking a moral compass, abetted the father
through her passivity and silence. She was more
distraught over his affairs with other women than his
grotesque tampering with her own flesh and blood.
Netflix allowing the brothers to do an in-depth
interview about the events of not only that night but
their lives prior to that was much needed. It's so
refreshing to hear their voices after so many years.

Nobody Wants This (Netflix)
Follows the unexpected relationship between a rogue
rabbi and an irascible, loud, agnostic woman. Kristen
Bell and Adam Brody have the most
amazing chemistry together. They are charming and their
connection seems genuine, their banter realistic. It's
rare to see a couple be so believable together from the
minute they are on screen together. It touches on very
relatable and relevant topics (regarding dating and
dating culture) in such a realistic matter
simultaneously, and doing so in a refreshingly
unproblematic way.
