Noah Cruise (Anthony Mackie), a naturally talented basketball
player, is determined to become a doctor using his basketball scholarship to
UCLA pre-med, rather than succumbing to the lure of a former sports agent Vaughn
(Wayne Brady), and his push for Noah to go for the NBA. Noah's
best friend, Tech, the buddy that covered for him and did time for an assault
charge, is also an outstanding basketball player, but has less lofty ambitions.
He wants to get his GED and win an underground street ball game against an
arrogant rival, Jewelz. Noah and Tech's lives drastically change when they both
fall in love with two local girls, Vanessa Lilly and Eboni Jackson, and take a
fateful trip out to L.A. together.

Pierre Dulaine (Antonio Banderas) is a Manhattan ballroom teacher
and competitor who volunteers his time to teach ballroom dancing to a group of
New York inner city high school kids. Initially forced to participate as a form
of detention, the kids reject Mr. Dulaine's efforts until his unwavering
commitment and dedication finally inspires them to embrace the program, infusing
it with their own unique hip-hop style while subconsciously learning valuable
life lessons about pride, respect, self-esteem and honor.

Mayer and reality bad boy Danny Bonaduce, have signed on to
appear in the first half of CSI's two-part season premiere, kicking off
Sept. 21.
On the heels of Paramount Pictures' decision not to renew
Cruise's production deal comes word that the Mission: Impossible star's
popularity ratings are down. Way down. According to Marketing Evaluations
Incorporated, the company that calculates the Q scores which measure a given
celebrity's likeability factor, the public's positive perception of Cruise has
fallen by 40 percent, while the negative perception of the actor has jumped a
whopping 100 percent.
Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz is the most popular
naked celebrity online. According to an AOL poll, the bass player was the
#1 internet search for nude pictures. He even beat out Pamela Anderson,
who came in second, and Paris Hilton, who was third.
If you've ever wanted to sleep in Jack White's bedroom, it'll cost
you $930,000 US. The White Stripes/Raconteurs frontman is
selling his Detroit home. It's an early 20th century mansion with fancy oak
paneling, an elaborate garden, and the grand foyer where Meg and Jack recorded
their latest album, Get Behind Me Satan.

Jake
Gyllenhaal is set to play cycling legend Lance Armstrong in a
movie about his life. The Brokeback Mountain star has apparently landed the role
in the upcoming biopic. Armstrong, who's a seven-time winner of the Tour de
France, let the casting choice slip during a television appearance.
Is Ashlee Simpson Broadway-bound? According to Us Weekly
magazine, the pop star has been offered the role of Roxie Hart in the musical
Chicago. Reportedly Ashlee has been given her choice to act in either the
Broadway or London stage show.
The line-up for the 2006 Toronto International Film
Fest was recently announced, and a host of A-list stars will be traveling
north of the border. The world's most famous father, Brad Pitt,
will be coming to screen his film Babel. Vince Vaughn, Sandra
Bullock, Jude Law, Reese Witherspoon and
Will Ferrell are just some of the stars who will also be attending.
352 films will screen at this year's festival, which runs from September 7-16.
America On Line has announced that it is making feature films from the
libraries of Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Home
Entertainment Group, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and 20th
Century Fox available for downloading from its AOL Video Website.
Lindsay Lohan has come under fire again. After being blasted last
month by a studio chief for her dubious work ethic, she is now being criticized
by veteran actor William H. Macy. Macy called Lohan’s behavior and
constant lateness on-set as (quote) very, very disrespectful.” The two co-star
in the upcoming film, Bobby.
The Black Eyed Peas have caused a stir in Prince Edward Island.
Charlottetown’s entire police force will be deployed to the band’s concert there
next month. Around 20,000 fans are expected for the Peas show on September 3rd.
Some locals are protesting the show, fearing that the crowd will be too young
and “rowdy.”
A group of New York City officials and civil rights groups have blasted CBS'
announcement that it has split the contestants on Survivor: Cook Islands
into tribes by race, claiming the producers' decision to pit blacks, whites,
Asians and Hispanics against one another during the early rounds of the show
would only promote divisiveness among competitors and viewers alike.
Kevin Federline will be shuffling over to the small screen, where
he will appear in an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" on CBS
this fall.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Marlon Wayans
will join Pretty Ugly for DreamWorks Studios. Wayans is set to develop,
produce and star in the story about a handsome lifestyle mogul who wakes up
hideously ugly because of a curse. As a result he must discover his inner beauty
to save his company and win over the woman he loves.
Steve Buscemi and Dan Akroyd have joined the cast of
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, which stars Adam Sandler,
Kevin James and Jessica Biel. Dennis Dugan will direct
the movie for Universal Pictures. The comedy tells of two
heterosexual firefighters (Sandler and James) who pose as a gay married couple
in order to qualify for their department's domestic-partner benefits. |
