20th Century Fox and producer John Davis has purchased the rights to the young adult fantasy series Uglies. The studio hopes to turn the Scott Westerfeld novel will be turned into a feature film franchise in the form of a trilogy. The movie would be set in the future and tells of a society where kids are deemed Uglies until the age of 16, when they are surgically transformed into Pretties and then moved to a glamorous part of town. The story centers around a group of teens who rebel against the operation.
