The Shaggy Dog
Tim Allen transforms from family dad to family dog and back again
in this update of the Disney comedy. It all begins when workaholic Deputy D.A.
Dave Douglas (Allen) takes on a case involving an animal laboratory, one that
will take him away yet again from his wife (Kristin Davis) and
kids (Zena Grey and Spencer Breslin), who already
yearn for his distracted attention. But when Dave is accidentally infected with
a top-secret, genetic mutation serum, everything he thought he knew about being
himself and his family changes. Yet with his newly perked-up ears, and his front
row seat on the household carpet, Dave is able to gain a whole new perspective
into his family's secrets and dreams. Now, he wants nothing more than to stop
fetching and return to fathering, only first he'll have to stop the evil forces
behind the serum. A delightful update to a family classic.

Just Friends
Chris Brander (Ryan Reynolds) has it all, money, good looks and a
flashy job as an LA music executive. But back in high school he was shy and
overweight. The only bright spot in his life was his friendship with Jamie
Palamino (Amy Smart) a popular cheerleader. On the night of their
high school graduation, Chris finally works up his courage and makes his
feelings for Jamie known. In response, a surprised Jamie proceeds to give him
the Just Friends speech. Ten years later, Chris has reinvented himself as a
smooth talking lady-killer, living large in Los Angeles. Due to a series of
events, Chris is faced with the chance to undo the past and seal the deal with
the just friends girl of his dreams. Chris tries to woo Jamie, but finds it's
difficult to romance Jamie than it was 10 years ago. Can one escape the clutches
of the friend zone? Is it possible to go from just friend to boyfriend? Chris is
about to find out the hard and hilarious way.
The Buzz..
The official
Lollapalooza lineup won't be revealed until March 16th, but Red Hot Chili
Peppers have let the cat out of the bag by confirming at
RedHotChiliPeppers.com that they will be a headline act. The festival is set to
take place August 4th through the 6th in Chicago's Grant Park. The Peppers are
no stranger to Lollapalooza. They headlined the second edition of the festival
in 1992. The Chilis' new album, Stadium Arcadium, is due out May 9th.
If you've got over half a million dollars floating around, you could own
Avril Lavigne's Toronto home. The singer has put her house on the
market with an asking price of close to $600,000. The Napanee raised rocker
purchased a home in Bel Air, California with fiancé Derek Whibley
of Sum 41 last year.
Def Leppard and Journey will be teaming up for a U.S. tour
this summer. No dates have been confirmed at this time.
Metallica will not play any U.S. shows this summer, despite speculation
that the group would either headline Ozzfest or mount its own stadium
tour. While the band is playing three concerts in South Africa later this month
and has a string of European festival appearances lined up for June, its
schedule has been empty for the rest of the summer, leading to rumors of some
sort of U.S. jaunt. However, the sources say that the band will enter the studio
in July with producer Rick Rubin to begin recording its ninth
studio album.
It's one thing
to pose for Playboy voluntarily, but it's another to appear on the cover
of the magazine without your consent. Just ask Jessica Alba, who's
suing the publication for using a publicity picture of her from her film Into
The Blue. Alba's legal team shot off a letter to the mag stating that the issue
should not be distributed and that Playboy demonstrated "unethical behavior" in
order to get the picture that was used on the cover.
Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman has confirmed an itinerary, which
lists dates and venues for 45 of the 49 cities the tour will hit this summer.
The dates and cities for Warped 2006, which includes Motion City
Soundtrack, Thursday, Rise Against and Joan
Jett and the Blackhearts plus a host of others, had been announced last
month, but with the addition of the venues, there's finally a proper itinerary
for the tour.
John Travolta and Queen Latifah have signed on to
star in New Line Cinema’s upcoming feature film adaptation of the
hit Broadway musical Hairspray. Travolta will play Edna Turnblad and Queen
Latifah will play Motormouth Maybelle in the film.
Mariah Carey is giving acting another shot. The 35-year-old Grammy
winner will attempt to erase the memory of her 2001 bomb, Glitter, with a
starring role in an independent film called Tennessee. Carey is set to play a
waitress who seeks out her estranged father in an attempt to save her brother,
who has leukemia.
Comedy Central would desperately love to have Dave
Chappelle return to complete the third season of his eponymous show, but the
comedian says that won't happen if the network airs episodes they've cobbled
together from material he filmed before walking away from his US$50 million
contract. Chappelle says airing the material in their possession would damage
their business relationship, and he can't see how he would return after such a
move.
Add another star to the wardrobe malfunction hall of fame. Along with Janet
Jackson and Tara Reid you can now add Lindsay
Lohan. The actress was posing for photographers on the red carpet when one
of her breasts was accidentally exposed. It was reported that when Lindsay was
told about the sip she giggled and fixed the problem.
Desperate Housewives is getting a signature scent this fall.
Perfume purveyor Coty Inc. is teaming up with Touchstone Television to develop a
fragrance inspired by the hit show.
Charmed will not be bewitching the new CW network next season. The
WB confirmed that the show has been canceled, with its final episode
scheduled to air May 21.
Kate Nelligan, Nia Long and Amber Valletta
have joined the cast of the Sandra Bullock starrer Premonition for
Hyde Park Entertainment, MGM and TriStar Pictures.
Nadine Velasquez, the hot star of My Name is Earl, will join
Jet Li's action-thriller Rogue for Lionsgate. Jason
Statham is also attached to the project. The thriller tells of an FBI agent
Jack Crawford (Statham) who starts a deadly game of cat and mouse with an Asian
assassin (Li) responsible for starting a deadly war between Asian rivals.
Steven Strait and Camilla Belle will star in 10,000
B.C., a prehistoric epic that Roland Emmerich is directing for Warner
Bros. Pictures. The film centers on a young tribal mammoth hunter (Strait)
at the dawn of modern man as he embarks on an epic journey through uncharted
territory to secure the future of his dying tribe. In the process, he saves the
one he loves (Belle).
Dominic Purcell (Prison Break) is set to join Orlando Jones in
Primeval, a killer crocodile thriller that would serve as the feature debut of
veteran television director Michael Katleman for Touchstone Pictures.
The film follows a news producer, reporter and cameraman who are dispatched to
South Africa to track down and bring home alive a legendary 25-foot crocodile
known as Gustave.
Warner Bros. has picked up Kite for Leonardo DiCaprio
to produce under his Appian Way company. The story is described as an intense
fictional drama that examines corruption in the California prison system.
Echoing real-life events, Kite focuses on gang culture and guard corruption in a
modern California maximum security prison.
Lionsgate Pictures has announced plans to develop and produce
Saw III, the next film in the psychologically intense and disturbing
horror franchise, for an October 27, 2006 wide release.
Dimension Films has bought John Unholz's superhero spoof Comic
Book: The Movie. Described as in the vein of the Scary Movie franchise
and the recent boxoffice hit Date Movie, Comic Book is a spoof of comic
book-based films.
Coldplay are enlisting fans to step behind the camera to shoot an
upcoming Toronto show for a DVD concert film. Five contest winning fans will
film the sold-out Toronto shows on March 22nd and 23rd.
Two Las Vegas nightspots have been issued warnings after investigators
determined they allowed underaged party boy Stavros Niarchos into
their venues. 19-year-old Niarchos is best known as the boyfriend of Paris
Hilton, who is 26. Drinking age in Nevada is 21.
And the losers are? Tom Cruise and his fiance Katie
Holmes. Cruise who starred in last year's blockbuster hit War of the Worlds
and his pregnant partner Holmes won the Razzie award for "most tiresome
tabloid targets." |
