It's Complicated
Jane (Meryl Streep) is the mother of three grown kids, owns a
thriving Santa Barbara bakery restaurant and has, after a decade of divorce, an
amicable relationship with her ex-husband, attorney Jake (Alec Baldwin).
But when Jane and Jake find themselves out of town for their son's college
graduation, things start to get complicated. An innocent meal together turns
into the unimaginable, an affair. With Jake remarried to the much younger Agness,
Jane is now, of all things, the other woman. Caught in the middle of their
renewed romance is Adam (Steve Martin), an architect hired to
remodel Jane's kitchen. Healing from a divorce of his own, Adam starts to fall
for Jane, but soon realizes he's become part of a love triangle. Should Jane and
Jake move on with their lives, or is love truly lovelier the second time around?

Facing Ali
Three time World Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali defeated almost
every top fighter of the golden age of boxing and symbolized the sport for
generations of fans. Now, ten of his acclaimed rivals pay tribute to perhaps the
world's most beloved and inspiring athlete. From the moment he captured the gold
at the 1960 Summer Olympics, the fighter who first came to prominence as Cassius
Clay electrified the world and transformed the art of boxing. Articulate,
handsome, charismatic and outspoken, he became an icon of the burgeoning civil
rights movement and a hero to millions around the globe. A master showman and a
brilliant strategist, Ali won as much by getting inside his opponents' heads as
by his astounding physical talents. With exclusive interviews and vintage
footage from the champ's unmatched career, "Facing Ali" recreates his most
unforgettable rivalries, and recounts his triumphs, tragedies and unstoppable
spirit.
The Buzz...
Brooke Mueller's Aspen social schedule hasn't been cramped by her
ugly Christmas incident with Charlie Sheen. After attending a
cocktail party at her mother's home last night, Brooke headed to the Caribou
Club, a celeb hot spot in the small ski town. "Brooke was low-key," a source
tells E! News. "She was talking to friends and walking around the small club,
but she stayed until closing time." Although Paris Hilton, Doug
Reinhardt and Gerard Butler were all partying at the same
place, Brooke hung with her own group and stayed under the radar.
Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol, is locked in a heated
custody battle with ex-fiancé Levi Johnston after filing for sole
custody of their 1 year old son, Tripp. Despite a request by Bristol Palin's
legal team to keep the court proceedings closed, a Superior Court judge ruled
last week to make it open, which Johnston had requested.
If the producers behind a new planned biopic of Ian Fleming have
their way, James McAvoy will be playing the man who created James
Bond.
The box office gods were not kind to Rob Marshall's Nine
over the weekend. After expanding from four to 1,412 theaters, the movie musical
grossed only $5.4 million with an incredibly disappointing $3,862 average. If
The Weinstein Company and Relativity Media production had been a
low budget indie along the lines of The Hurt Locker, A
Single Man or Crazy Heart this wouldn't be that big a concern.
However, Nine cost $65 million to make.
You might as well mothball those Tay-Tay and Team Swifter T-shirts you were
printing out for the new year, Taylor Swift and Taylor
Lautner have split, and were never all that serious in the first place. "It
was never a big deal to begin with. The media made way more out of it than it
is," a source close to Swift says. "They went out on a few dates and realized
this was just not going anywhere." A Lautner source corroborated that
perspective, adding that the fact the two rising stars lived nearly a continent
apart.
Hugh Jackman, Taylor Lautner, Mariah Carey
and Sandra Bullock are among the stars expected at next week's
People's Choice Awards. Steve Carell, Carrie
Underwood, Ellen DeGeneres and LL Cool J are also set
to attend the celebrity filled ceremony on Jan. 6 at the Nokia Theatre in Los
Angeles. The show will be broadcast live on CBS. Executive producer
Mark Burnett says the stars "are coming out in droves to thank the
fans for their love and support." Queen Latifah will host the show
in which fans vote for their favorite actors, musicians, movies and TV programs.
Glee's fire breathing badass Jane Lynch will show off a whole new
side to herself on the Jan. 10 episode of The Cleveland Show when she
debuts as Roberta's brusque, no nonsense new teacher Ms. Eck.
Police say James Owen Sullivan, a drummer and backup
vocalist for the Southern California band Avenged Sevenfold, has
been found dead at his home in Southern California. Lt. John Domingo says the 28
year old Sullivan, who went by the stage name The Rev, appears to have died of
natural causes on Monday in Huntington Beach.
You don't usually see the #1 cable debut get canceled in its first season, but
that's what has happened to The Jeff Dunham Show. Comedy
Central says that they have decided not to renew the comedy show featuring
puppets. The comic will, however, still have a new comedy special on the network
sometime next year.
Has Tiger Woods reunited with his beloved mistress Rachel
Uchitel? Sources claim that Uchitel and Woods recently partied it up at a
private mansion in Palm Beach, Fl amongst 300 other guests. The couple
reportedly held hands and hung with the other partygoers.
Kim Kardashian is embroiled in a legal battle with a diet cookie
manufacturer, after branding its sweet weight loss treats "unhealthy". The
Keeping Up With The Kardashians star kicked off the row with bosses at
Dr. Siegel's Cookie Diet Company, accusing them of falsely claiming she was
endorsing their brand.
Megan Fox was named the worst actress of the year, according to a
poll by Moviefone.com. Her film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
was voted worst movie of the year. The poll named New Moon the
year’s best movie, and Robert Pattinson the sexiest actor of 2009.
Kanye West did something charitable (not to mention good for his
public image) over the holidays. The rapper and his girlfriend Amber
Rose made a surprise appearance at an L.A. homeless shelter, where they
served lunch alongside other volunteers.
Justin Bieber will be spending New Year’s Eve in New York City.
The singer will ring in 2010 alongside Selena Gomez at Dick
Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Selena recently was quoted by J-14
magazine saying she has a crush on Bieber.
Vanessa Hudgens is giving leaked nude photos of herself some extra
publicity in the name of justice. The High School Musical star is suing
the owners of www.moejackson.com for posting some very revealing pictures
of Hudgens on their site. According to the lawsuit, “the photos were obtained by
unknown methods and posted on the internet by an unknown person without Hudgens’
knowledge or consent.” TMZ reports that the actress also registered the
photos with the U.S. Copyright Office so if you see a nude pic of Vanessa
Hudgens on a postage stamp, rest assured she’s getting paid.
Jay-Z and Beyonce have changed their names. The happily married
hip-hop/R&B power couple have joined and hyphenated their names. From now on
they’ll be known as Shawn Knowles-Carter and Beyonce Knowles-Carter.
Actually, they’ll still always be known as Jay-Z and Beyonce to us, but isn’t it
sweet that they’ve done this?
