Cold - Year of the Spider
The
world is a big scary place and just as every generation
sends a hero up the pop charts, it also seeks solace
with singers who connect with the inner angst-ridden
teenager in all of us. This makes way for Cold who play
atmospheric hard rock that fits neatly alongside contemporaries
such as 3 Doors Down and Staind. With singer Scooter
Ward, the band has the pre-requisite howling frontman
who turns life into tragedy and tragedy into song and
song into operatic last stands. Though Cold's music
has become more melodic and accessible, that doesn't
mean that they've turned over a new leaf. With Scooter
Ward's powerful vocals, inventive guitar interplay,
and Sam McCandless' nonstop primal bashing, Cold, after
15 years together, are outshining mentors Limp Bizkit.
Limited Edition also contains a bonus DVD approximately
one half hour in duration that contains the video for
Stupid Girl as well as footage from the recording of
the album and the making of the video.
At The Movies
Daddy Day Care
Two
fathers (Eddie Murphy, Jeff Garlin) lose their jobs
in product development at a large food company and are
forced to take their sons out of the exclusive Chapman
Academy and become stay-at-home fathers. With no job
possibilities on the horizon, the two dads open their
own day care facility, Daddy Day Care, and employ some
fairly unconventional and sidesplitting methods of caring
for children. As Daddy Day Care starts to catch on,
it launches them into a highly comedic rivalry with
Chapman Academy's tough-as-nails director (Anjelica
Huston) who has driven all previous competitors out
of business.
On Video
Catch Me if You Can
Based on the autobiography of a brilliant
young master of deception and the FBI agent hot on his
trail, Catch Me If You Can stars Leonardo DiCaprio and
Tom Hanks in the extraordinary true story of Frank W.
Abagnale Jr. (DiCaprio), a runaway teenager successfully
passed himself off as a pilot, a lawyer and a doctor
all before his 21st birthday. A master of deception,
he was also a brilliant forger, whose skill at cheque
fraud had netted him millions of dollars in stolen funds.
FBI Agent Carl Hanratty (Hanks) had made it his prime
mission to capture Frank and bring him to justice, but
Frank is always one step ahead of him, baiting him to
continue the chase. Directed by Steven Speilberg, the
two leads are definitely fun to watch, and there are
plenty of laugh out loud moments.
