Off The Record...

Alice Cooper

Brutal Planet

More than 30 years after first hitting the rock scene, Alice Cooper is back to reclaim his thrown as the shock rock king. From the apocalyptic title track to the punk-metal rocker Sanctuary to awesome power ballad Cold Machines, this is the sound of Alice updating himself into the new millennium. For Alice Cooper fans looking to see the snake-eyed horror-rock stalwart rejuvenated and unleashed, this album does the trick.

At The Movies...

Space Cowboys

If you're looking for a dose of realism in your sci-fi adventures, look no further than Space Cowboys. The new film from director Clint Eastwood (who also stars) isn't a futuristic space adventure, and the mission doesn't involve saving our planet from mass alien destruction. Instead, the movie offers a realistic view of NASA and its astronauts. Clint may not be the youngest buck around, but some cowboys age like fine wine. These cowboys (including Tommy Lee Jones, James Garner and Donald Sutherland) certainly do.

On Video...

The Tigger Movie

This first major big screen Winnie the Pooh feature is just tiggerific. Old-fashioned animation comes to the fore in this adventure that finds Tigger in search of his family tree. Naturally, it takes a while for him to find out that he's the only tigger around, and that his true family are the friends in the Hundred Acre Wood that love him. A wonderful tale for kids and parents alike. Voices of Jim Cummings, Nikita Hopkins, Ken Sansom, John Fiedler, Peter Cullen and Andre Stoja.

The Buzz...

After 10 years of animated antics, the Simpsons are headed for the big screen. No script, or even a deal is in place yet, but creator Matt Groening confirmed that a film version of the TV series is in the works.

Angel Medina, who is working on his third issue as artist of Spawn, said he will likely remain on the Image Comics title for a while.

Teen Brit actor Gabriel Thomson has been tapped to play Harry Potter in the feature length film based on the enormously popular book series, according to Britain's Daily Telegraph.

New Line has acquired the distribution rights for Dungeons & Dragons: The Movie and plans to bring it to big screens in December.

Courtney Love lost her role on the sci fi shocker John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars after injuring her ankle preparing for the role.

ABC and Showtime are cooking up a four-hour miniseries based on Anne Rice's Feast of All Saints. Boasting a $14 million budget, the historical drama will follow the lives of four "free people of color" in 1850s' New Orleans.

George Lucas had finally settled on a name for the latest Star Wars feature film: Star Wars: Episode II--Rise of the Empire. At this point, no one at Lucasfilm has confirmed that this is the film's real name.

When Sabrina, the Teenage Witch debuts on the WB this fall, Trevor Lissauer of MTV's Undressed will appear as Sabrina's college roommate. Lissauer has also been seen in recurring roles on Roswell and Felicity.

NBC has axed the new David Spade animated comedy series after two disastrous weeks on the air. In its first outing, the show averaged a dismal 2.6 rating. Last Tuesday's episode averaged an even worse 1.6 rating among adults 18 to 49.

More details concerning U2’s hotly anticipated new album, including a complete track listing, have been disclosed. Titled All That You Can't Leave Behind, the quartet's 10th studio full-length features 11 cuts, all produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno, the duo who helmed the earlier U2 albums The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby! Look for it this Halloween.
