Broke
Though they
are fairly unheard of outside of certain circles, (hed) p.e. helped establish
today's most important rock and roll trend. Now, after helping to open the
floodgates for the likes of Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock, Orange County's heaviest
party band is back with its second set of rollicking rap-rock drinking songs.
Led by singer Jahred and the capable guitar tandem of Wes and
Chad, the band
plows through a dozen deep and jarring tunes. Broke comes off as slightly more
accessible than the band's relentless debut. There are good melodies and
considerable finesse at the core of Broke's best material, a sign of a skilled
band and noteworthy songwriters.
At The Movies...
The Cell
Psychologist Catherine Deane (Jenifer Lopez) is taking part in a radical new kind of
treatment. She enters the minds of her patients in order to heal them. When she
accepts to enter the brain of a comatose serial killer in order to locate his
last victim who is slowly drowning, she never expected to find such craziness
inside of that world. The Cell is by far the most mind-bending flick of the
decade and a wonderful celluloid substitute to mind altering substances.
Hardcore horror fans will notice familiar elements from other movies, namely
Nightmare On Elm Street and Silence Of The Lambs. The Cell marks a new era in
horror filmmaking.

After Life
A delightful fantasy-morality tale about a waystation on the road to the after
life in which the recently deceased are told they have one week in which to
choose one memory that they can take with them for all eternity. Staff members
will take that memory, make a film of it, and give it to the dead, who will live
out that single happy memory forever, forgetting all else. Stunning and profound
work that examines the core of existence, the memories and longings that make us
human.
