Off the Record...
Sammy Hagar
Ten 13

Ten 13, the red rockers third solo release since his split with VH is simply put, a party record, the kind of album that you never really sit down and analyze. It's the kind of record that you want blasting in the background when you are shooting pool at the bar. Sammy Hagar knows how to party and it shows throughout the disc. The record is a strong similar to the groundwork laid on his '80s rock albums and, while not a masterpiece, it would have certainty tore up the charts back in the day. The rest of the album is filled with joyous rockers, like the first single, Serious Juju. Ten 13 takes it's name from Hagar's birth date and this record is definitely a gift to fans to thank them for making that day worth celebrating.

At The Movies...
Bedazzled
In the comedy Bedazzled, Brendan Fraser stars as Elliott Richards, a man who is desperate to change his life. He gets the opportunity when the devil answers his pleas for help. They strike up a deal, seven wishes for his soul. And wouldn't you? After all, the devil arrives in the form of model-turned-actress Elizabeth Hurley. Bedazzled uses laughs to teach a lesson about desire. Be careful what you wish for. You may get it, and a whole lot more.

On DVD...
The Filth and Fury
The story of the punk band The Sex Pistols is told by the band members themselves in Julien Temple's fine documentary film. This is a fascinating document of a time and a place in recent history. Early moments
in the band's history were captured on film. Interviews with Nancy Spungen and Sid Vicious are nothing short of haunting. The Filth and the Fury does not glorify The Sex Pistols. Because the band narrates their own road to oblivion, they do a much better job of displaying their talents and their faults than anyone else could. For Sex Pistols fans and those interested in social phenomena.

The Buzz...

Charlton Heston, who starred as a stranded astronaut in the original Planet of the Apes and the first sequel will make a cameo appearance in Tim Burton's updated Apes flick. This time around, Heston will play an ape.

MGM is apparently ready to offer Austin Powers star Mike Myers $20 million to play Inspector Clouseau in Ivan Reitman's remake of The Pink Panther.

Paramount Television announced a record-high license fee for the three Star Trek spin-off series. For a mere $364 million, a potential buyer can secure the rights to The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

On the heels of the ratings success of the recent two-hour Original film Witchblade, Turner Network Television (TNT) announced that it has ordered eleven episodes for a limited series based on the best-selling Top Cow comic book of the same name.

MTV's Total Request Live host Carson Daly is engaged. Daly and his actress girlfriend of seven months, Tara Reid (American Pie), got engaged recently in New York City.

CBS has announced that it will order 22 episodes each for weekend dramas C.S.I., The Fugitive, and The District, as well as for comedies Bette and Yes, Dear. The network is still considering renewals for its other two new shows, Welcome to New York and That's Life.

Following last week's announcement that Guns N’ Roses would make its first live appearance in seven years at the third Rock in Rio festival in January 2001, there is more news from the GN'R camp. Guitarists Robin Finck and Buckethead have now been officially confirmed as part of the ever-changing talent roster for the fabled Chinese Democracy album.

Steve Allen, who pioneered late night television with the original Tonight Show, composed more than 4,000 songs and wrote 40 books, has died. He was 78.

In a deal that could rescue Napster from legal limbo, Bertelsmann said it was teaming with the Internet music-swapping service to develop a new membership-based distribution system that would guarantee payments to artists. In exchange, the German media giant will drop its lawsuit against Napster, make its music catalog available and gain the right to buy a stake in Napster.
