At The
Movies...
End of Days
As the millennium
ticks to a close, evil stalks the world. Satan is looking for a bride. It's up
to reluctant hero Jericho Cane (Arnold Schwarzenegger), ex-cop and head of a
private New York security firm, to save the girl and the rest of humankind from
a fate worse than death. It's a kick to have Schwarzenegger being pursued by
the ultimate Terminator, as he thunders through this special effects laden
spectacle. A frightfully fun film for the dark side of your personality, as
Arnold proves he still has plenty of box office muscle.
Off The Record...
Beck
Midnight Vultures
On his sixth album
Beck’s takes a twisted time trip back to a decadent era (The 70's) that he was
too young to enjoy fully. Beck doesn't set out to re-create the 1970s, though.
He's playing to our current hindsight, distorted and hyperactive and more than a
little envious of a time when pleasure didn't automatically bring danger. For
all Beck lifts from the Seventies, the album never sounds like a period piece.
There's always something extra in the mix, stray elements that are both goofy
and strangely appropriate. Buy it, enjoy it.

Austin Powers: The Spy Who
Shagged Me
Hold on to your bits and pieces,
baby, the swinging '60s superspy with the license to shag returns in Austin
Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. Mike Myers' International Man of Mystery once
again matches wits with that nefarious baldy, Dr. Evil, who hatches a dastardly
scheme to steal his mojo. Campy and hilarious, exactly what fans would want and
expect.
