At The Movies...

Scream If You Know What I Did Last Halloween
The Wayans Brothers dynasty are weighing in and taking a blast at horror their way with Scream If You Know What I Did Last Halloween.  Look for their trademark brand of goof and spoof as they parody all the movies you've learned to love/hate over your life in Horrorville: Friday the 13th, Halloween, I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream just to name a few.  Great tongue in cheek humor, you just might die laughing.

Off The Record...

Foo Fighters

There Is Nothing Left To Lose

Leave it to the Foo Fighters to craft the finest, most tuneful blast of guitar rock of the year.  There Is Nothing Left to Lose leaves Dave Grohl's grunge past behind for good in favor of powerful, chart-worthy pop.  That's not to say the album doesn’t deliver some healthy 'tude.  But the album, indeed, the individual songs, are greater than the sum of their parts, even the hit single Learn to Fly.  The Foo’s are learning more about pacing and popcraft, and those slammin' '70s riffs and Grohl's occasional throat-scraping screams keep things rockin'.

On The Air...

The West Wing

First-term President (Martin Sheen) is a brash but fair-minded family man who is also something of a klutz.  This mix of qualities keeps his loyal workaholic staff members on their toes around the clock.  A clever behind-the-scenes look at the White House, but they'll have a hard time matching the goings-on at the real White House.  Still, this veteran ensemble cast (especially a rejuvenated Rob Lowe) should make politics a little more appealing to the common man.  Wednesday at 9 on NBC.

The Buzz...

So when did Father Merrin of The Exorcist fame first run afoul of the devil?  Audiences will get a chance to find out in Exorcist: Dominion the prequel to the classic 1973 horror film.

Warner Brother's much-anticipated Pokemon: The First Movie has had its opening date shifted from the originally announced Friday, November 12th to Wednesday, November 10th.

Hong Kong newspaper sources have confirmed that the Hong Kong government and the Walt Disney Company have concluded talks and reached a deal regarding building a Disneyland theme park on the island.

In the Millennium episode which will air November 28, Mulder and Scully will finally lock lips.  The pair have kissed before, in the alternate timeline episode Triangle, and they nearly smooched in the film Fight the Future, but this will mark the first time the FBI partners kiss for real.

Nick Park, the mastermind behind the delightful Wallace and Gromit animated films A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, and A Close Shave, has signed a new $250 million deal with Dream Works.  The Hollywood studio and the British animator have already worked together on the upcoming Chicken Run, which features the vocal talents of Mel Gibson and Miranda Richardson.

The Fox Network has given the green light to a project called Ultraviolet.  Described as a sexy vampire soap opera, the proposed series is based on a similarly titled British program.  The American version will be developed by Chip Johannessen (Beverly Hills, 90210) and Howard  Gordon (The X-Files).

America Movie Classics has acquired the rights to a package of digitially remastered, uncut Three Stooges shorts from Columbia TriStar.

Butch Patrick, who played Herman Munster’s son Eddie on the ‘60s horror/comedy show The Munsters, is heading back to TV.  Every week, he’ll host a different classic monster movie on 1313 Theater.  Although fellow Munster Al Grampa Lewis is scheduled to appear on the first episode, no announcement has been made whether any broadcast or cable outlets have picked up the series yet.

Look for the third installment of Movie Maniacs from McFarlane Toys soon. In this group, Ash from Evil Dead, The Fly from the self-named movie, Snake Plissken from Escape From L.A. and Edward Scissorhands.

Frank Castle, the Punisher, will appear in Mutant X #18 facing off with Havok over the fate of a young mutant boy.  It's a lead-in to the Punisher's new limited series from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon due out in February.

Peter Benchley, best known as the author of Jaws, is quite pleased with the ratings success of the Peter Benchley’s Amazon syndicated television series.  According to the author, the light-hearted adventure series has a guaranteed 22-episode run for its first season.

In its first week in video release, The Blair Witch Project posted some scary sales figures, outstripping its closest competitor, a re-release of The Wizard of Oz, by a three to one margin.  In DVD sales, the mock-documentary doubled that of The Matrix, which was in its fifth week of release.

The Goo Goo Dolls will be taping a segment for the popular children's show Sesame Street’s 31st season. The segment, which won't be airing until next year, features the band dueting with Elmo on a still-to-be-determined song.

Actress Roz Kelly, who achieved everlasting rerun fame as Pinky Tuscadero, Fonzie’s love in a very special guest spot on Happy Days, was sentenced in Southern California to three years' probation for spraying her neighborhood with bullets in a car alarm-inspired rampage.
